Is this just my impression or is does the game effectively do it much better than E:D?Ģ) How is the gameplay variety in X Rebirth? In E:D you pretty much have 5/6 activities that you can do, people normally sticking to half of those because they're either the most profitable or less boring. Now from what I've seen of X Rebirth (screenshots etc.) I got the idea that the universe actually has personality and each part of it has its different look and feel. This for me is the ultimate dealbreaker in any space sim. Backgrounds and stars will look the same, stations will look the same and ships being sold will be the same. You can be in 2 different systems half a galaxy away and everything will look exactly the same in both. I would like to ask those who own X Rebirth whether the game would have what I'm looking for in these topics.ġ) The biggest one is that the entire universe looked the same. I own E:D with the DLC and while it kept me entertained for a couple hours I ended up getting bored pretty fast and giving up everytime I went back to it because of a couple of aspects in the game. I'd be stunned if he doesn't get picked up by one of the developing giants after LT is released.Yes i know that one has a campaign and the other is an online sandbox so they aren't exactly comparable, but looking at both simply as space sims I would like to ask a few questions as the latest X Rebirth sale caught my eye. don't go choosing reward packages at 3am in the morning lol) I picked the wrong level and didn't realise until a few months later when the alpha code didn't turn up.īut his work (especially for his age) is incredible. Should have been involved with the Alpha, but due to a 'minor' technical glitch (ie. To any of you out there unfamiliar with Limit Theory, it was another Kickstarter marvel that is absolutely mind blowing, especially when you consider the kid is effectively doing it by himself (not sure if his graphics mate Andy is still involved or not?) and has built the entire engine, coding etc from scratch. Josh is with his folks for thanksgiving, but will be updating with his dev video for November on Sunday. There's three now btw - SC ED and LT - Limit Theory! The third is less known but damn is it looking fantastic!!įunny you should bring LT up. I'm just happy the space sim community too was active and cognizant of the developments else this would never have happened. Well said - It is a sweet spot between crowdfunding and technology. Plus I won't need a rig bathed in liquid nitrogen to run it lol! While it pales in comparison to SC's $33 million dollar budget (and rising), a huge amount of Elite Dangerous is procedurally generated, saving a fortune in design costs. which I think is something like $3.3 million USD. When you think about it, it'll be great for us as gamers, especially with the ORift on the horizon and both games being developed to harness the full immersion potential, but the real gold is seeing the passion of these guys finally being able to unleash their inner brilliance and reward those gamers who have carried the space genre torch for all these years.įYI - Elite:Dangerous has just passed 2 million pounds in funding. It's taken over 2 decades, but we have finally reached a sweetspot between the convergence of technology and crowd sourced funding that has allowed the old founders such as David & Chris the ability to transform dreams into reality. I remember Chris saying in one of the earlier KS interviews, that Star Citizen was the dream that could never be realised due to the funding, technology and domination of the publishing houses more interested in a quick buck than creating a new space legacy for us to fondly remember for the next 25yrs. I suspect David has been sitting on this pet project for awhile. Just kind of surprised how they pulled off the alpha game so fast when X :R took almost 7 years in development Αναρτήθηκε αρχικά από Balrog1978:anybody here who hadn't heard of Elite? Would be good to get folks to pledge more - I would have liked to see FD get 4-5 million + for this game! ITs a good thing they've got a publisher tied in.
